Rain-hit villagers in Pali dist beat up negligent officials

Pali, July 6 (UNI) Angry villagers of Manpura near Hemawas dam in Pali district beat up district officials for arriving late despite being informed about cracks appearing in the dam early morning.

Eyewitnesses say the villagers informed the officials early morning around 0600 hrs but they reached late in the afternoon.

Villagers, many of whose houses were submerged due to heavy rains lashing the district since the past two days, were angry that no government help reached in time.

When the officials finally arrived, the enraged villagers beat up District Parishad CEO Rampal Sharma and public relations officer Premprakash Tripathi. The villagers even made the officials do repair work of the dam.
