Pratibha Patil to campaign in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 6: UPA-Left Presidential candidate Pratibha Patil will arrive here today as part of her election campaigning.

She will be received by Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh and Pradesh Congress President K Keshava Rao MP, at the airport later today.

In a significant move, the Congress had extended invitation to its estranged ally TRS to attend the lunch, to be hosted in honour of Ms Patil.

She would address a joint meeting of Legislators and MPs and also a women's rally organised by the women's wing of the Congress party, party sources said.

The Congress had extended invitation to various parties, including the CPI, CPI(M) and AIMIM for the meeting.

The party women's wing had mobilised over 10,000 activists to accord a traditional welcome to Ms Patil, while the party youth wing had decorated vantage points in the city with arches and cutouts having pictures of Ms Patil, flanked by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
