Chennai, July 6 (UNI) Renewing his campaign against Reliance, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder leader Dr S Ramadoss today urged the Tamil Nadu government to issue an order, closing down of Reliance shops, engaged in retail trade in the state.

In a statement here, he said the DMK government, on the lines of action taken against the neighbouring state Kerala, should immediately order closing down of Reliance shops.

He said Kerala had taken a decision not to allow Reliance to set up shops and cancel permission, already given, while the West Bengal (WB) Government had laid down conditions that Reliance should not engage in selling essential commodities like food items.

The Tamil Nadu Government should order closing of Reliance shops or atleast laid down conditions on the lines of the decision taken by the WB Government, Dr Ramadoss said.

He said more than six lakh traders were engaged in retail trade in Tamil Nadu and the entry of Reliance and Wallmart into retail trade posed a serious threat to the local traders, engaged in retail trade.

If the multi-national companies were allowed to gain foot hold in the state, more than six lakh traders would be rendered jobless and their families would come to the streets.
