PM, Ministers pay tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram

New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today led the nation in paying homage to former Deputy Prime Minister and Dalit rights leader Babu Jagjivan Ram at the Samata Sthal on his 21st death anniversary.

Floral tributes were also paid to 'Babuji' as he was popularly known, on behalf of President A P J Abdul Kalam.

Among the dignitories who paid tributes to the leader were Union Ministers Sharad Pawar, Mahavir Prasad, former Governor Mata Prasad, and several former MPs.

Jagjivan Ram's daughter Meira Kumar, and son-in-law Manjul Kumar were also present.

The year 2007-08 is being celebrated as the Birth Centenary year of Babuji and as part of this, various programmes are being held across the country.
