NHAI approves three BOT projects under NHDP Phase-III

New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) The NHAI has approved three National Highway development projects in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana on a BOT basis, involving a total expenditure of Rs 1550 crore.

At its 64th board meeting here on Wednesday, the NHAI accorded investment approval for Design, Engineering, Finance, Construction, Operation and Maintenance of the three projects, which are part of the NHDP Phase-III A.

An official of the NHAI said the project in Bihar pertains to the Patna-Muzaffarpur Section of NH-77 with a 17 km bypass to Muzaffarpur connecting NH-28.

The total length of the project is 63.371 km and is estimated to cost Rs 458 crore.

The project relating to Khalghat-Madhya Pradesh/Maharashtra border section in Madhya Pradesh is to cost Rs 549 crore.

In Haryana, the Rohtak-Hissar section, a 89.36-km stretch, will be built at a cost of Rs 543 crore.

The official said these projects would have adequate provisions for construction of ROBs, bridges, flyovers, service roads, wayside amenities, truck parking and bus bays.

The concession period would be 18 years (including construction).

The NHAI is moving ahead in implementing the NHDP Phase-III on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode using Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.

The 4/6-laning of 4000 km of National Highways on BOT basis under NHDP Phase-III A was approved by the government in March 2005 at an estimated cost of Rs 22,000 crore (as per 2004 prices).
