NABARD to set up agri-business school

Kolkata, July 6 (UNI) National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will set-up a unique agriculture business school here having facilities and specialisation at par with IIMs.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of NABARD's proposed National Resource Management Centre (NRMC)-cum-West Bengal Regional Office, NABARD Chairman Dr Y S P Thorat said the agri- business school would be set up in the state.

Dr Thorat has urged the state government to give land for the business school complex.

State Finance Minister Dr Asim Dasgupta, who laid the foundation for NRMC, immediately agreed to the NABARD proposal and announced all the necessary help for the proposed business school would be provided.

The business school would be founded as per the best of international standards to address all the aspects of agro-business, the NABARD chief said.

The NRMC would be completed within next two years at a cost of Rs 15 crore. The main objective of the centre would be to understand and promote sustainable natural resources, particularly farming methods and practices, for balanced economic growth of the country and the eastern region.
