Military world games to be held at hyderabad in october
Bangalore, July 6 (UNI) A massive tree planting drive and hosting of the Trivandrum Car Rally are among the many events that will take place in the city on July eight to commence the 100 day count down for the start of the Military World Games in Hyuderabad from October 14.
An official release here said that the Games, being held for the first time in Asia, will also have two events in Mumbai. In all 3800 athgletes from 70 countries will be participating in 13 sports disciplines, two demonstration sports and an exhibition match.
A massive tree plantation drive led by Brigadier PPS Bal, Commandant of ASC Centre will be carried out on July 8 at the Agram Grounds.
Simultaneously similar tree plantation drives are being organised across the nation at all stations of the Indian Armed forces, it said.
The Trivandrum Car Rally was one of the three car rallies that was being organised to commemmorate 100 days to go for the mega sporting event.
Starting off from Trivandrum on July 8, the car rally would tocuh Coimbatore and Salem before reaching Bangalore. It aimed to generate public interest in the military games, inteact with ex-service men, and serving soldiers from all corners of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
The rally was expected to arrive in Bngalore on July 9 evening and will be flagged in at Manekshaw Parade ground.
The fourth Military Games is being held under the aegis of the International Military Sports Council, a body of the Armed Forces of 127 member nations.
