Mercury in Delhi rises further to 37.2 deg C

New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) Hot and sultry conditions prevailed in the national capital today as the maximum temperature soared further to 37.2 degrees celsius, a degree above normal.

The heat and high humidity level of 89 per cent left Delhiites sweltering. The minimum, too, rose to 28.5 degrees Celsius, one point above normal, from yesterday's 27.3 degrees.

Yesterday the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius.

Delhi was lashed by rains on Tuesday and Wednesday, cooling down the weather much to the relief of people.

The coming days could, however, see a return to cool weather with weatherman forecasting rain and thundershowers in many areas of the capital over the next four to five days.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in the city during the next 24 hours with one or two spells of rain and thundershowers.

Light to moderate rains in the last few days brought about some coolness in the weather in Delhi, with the maximum dropping to 33.3 degrees on Tuesday and 33.6 degrees on Wednesday.
