Meghalaya celebrates the 'World Zoonosis day'

Shillong, July 6 (UNI) Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association here today celebrated the ''World Zoonosis Day'' by holding an awareness programme on 'Rabies and Fird flu' for school children.

Inaugurating the function, Meghalaya's Chief Secretary R Chatterjee stressed on the need to prevent cruelty on animals and said that measures must be adopted to prevent various diseases spreading via animals.

He appealed to all teachers and students to be more pro-active and learn about what is 'zoonoist'.

Commenting on recent Bird flu incidents in Bangladesh he said State Government had stopped the import of poultry products from that country as a precautionary measures.
