Mahto alleges financial irregularities in DVC, demands CBI probe
Ranchi, Jul 6 (UNI) Jharkhand's Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto today accused the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) of committing "financial irregularities" in establishing power plants and demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Mahto said DVC, a Public Sector undertaking for power production in Jharkhand, was supposed to spend about Rs 4800 crore to establish 1000 MW power plants in Koderma, Durgapur and Raghunathpur, whereas Rs 1600 crores were being spent by the company on establishing a 500 MW power plant in Bokaro.
Mr Mahto alleged that bungling of about Rs 200 crore was being done in establishing a power plant.
The Deputy Chief Minister said he had also writteen to Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in this regard and demanded an inquiry by CBI or any independent agency.
Mr Mahto also demanded to hold company's meeeting in Jharkhand within a year.
