Haryana to provide modern facilities to police sportspersons

Chandigarh, July 6 (UNI) Haryana Director General of Police R S Dalal today assured the state police sportspersons that they would be provided modern training facilities to obtain excellence in the upcoming international sports events.

Speaking on the occasion of launching of the workshop "Mission Success 2010 Commonwealth Games and Beyond" at Haryana Police Academy at Madhuban in Karnal District today, Mr Dalal announced that a hockey astroturf, a synthetic track, a multipurpose indoor hall, a modern shooting range and a skating ring would be constructed for the training and competitions.

"Besides creating these facilities the police department would also encourage those sportsmen who bring laurels to the state. A panel of expert will continuously monitor the performance of each sportsperson," said Mr Dalal, who is also working president of the Amateur Boxing Federation of India. .

He said, "Responsibility of the department is to create facilities and sports environment while the players and the coaches have to devote their energies with a missionary zeal to put Haryana on the sports map of the world." The DGP informed that keeping in view the upcoming international sports events like 2010 Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Olympic Games the Haryana Police is recruiting 300 outstanding sportspersons under three per cent reservation of jobs in the age group of 18 to 25.

"Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has promised to extend all possible assistance to the state police sportspersons," said Mr Dalal.

Mr Dalal said the Haryana Police Games would be organised soon to evaluate the performance of the sportspersons.
