Farm commodity prices remain steady last week
New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) Farm commodity prices generally remained steady or have shown mixed trend in different centres across the country in the week ending June 29, 2007.
Wheat prices remained steady at 10 centres. Guwahati and Bangalore saw an increase in wheat prices during the week.
Prices trend was monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Sugar prices remained steady across majority of the centres and increased at Bhubaneshwar.
Gram prices remained steady over the week across most of the centers; declined at Ahmedabad and Guwahati and increased at Shimla, Bhubaneshwar and Bangalore.
Tur dal prices were also steady across majority of the centers; and increased at Shimla, Aizwal, Bhubaneshwar, Bangalore and Chennai.
At Delhi, prices of gram dal, tea, potato and salt remained steady over one week; those of rice, wheat, atta, tur dal, sugar, groundnut oil, vanaspati and milk remained steady over one month; and prices of mustard oil and onion increased during the week. As on July 2, public sector agencies have contracted import of 10.38 lakh tonne pulses of which 1.88 lakh tonnes has already reached Indian ports. The imported pulses include urad, moong, dunpeas, masoor, chana, yellow peas and tur.
