CPM alleges DMK 'high-handedness' in Coop nominations
Chennai, July 6 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today expressed concern over reports that the ruling DMK men were not allowing others to file nominations for seeking election to various cooperative bodies.
In a statement here, CPI(M) state unit secretary N Varadarajan said it was a matter of concern that the DMK workers were allowing only those who were close to them to file papers and seek election.
Pointing out that candidates and general public had resorted to protest demonstrations at many places, he said the government should cancel the elections, wherever candidates were prevented from filing papers and hold fresh elections.
The government should ensure that members are allowed to file their papers and the elections conducted in a free and fair manner, Mr Varadarajan said.
