Child crushed to death by speeding SUV

New Delhi, July 06 (UNI) A one-and-a-half-year-old girl was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle in Sultanpuri area of North-West Delhi this morning.

The child, who lived in Ratan Vihar Colony in Sultanpuri, was playing when she came under the wheels of a speeding sports utility vehicle at about 0930 hrs, said the police.

The girl died on the spot.

Refuting rumours that the vehicle belonged to a Delhi Congress leader who was in the Scorpio when the accident took place, police said the driver of the vehicle, Mongolpuri resident Dinesh, was absconding.

The vehicle bore a VIP number but had been bought by one Mukesh who is a property dealer, it added.
