BMC, CR to work together to tackle waterlogging
Mumbai, Jul 6 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Jairaj Phatak today said the civic body will work together with the Central Railway (CR) to tackle the problem of waterlogging.
He said normally the metropolis receives 2200 mm of total rainfall every year. However, this time around, 850 mm of rainfall has already fallen here in the past few weeks. This is 40 per cent of the total rainfall, he said.
The incessant rains had led to water logging on several tracks on the Central and Western Railway line.
Wadala and Parel railway stations were the most affected on the Central Railway line during the rains this year.
Hence, the municipality and the railways will work in tandem to lessen the problems, Mr Phatak added.
