BJP urges AP Governor reject Muslim quota ordinance
Hyderabad, July 6 (UNI) BJP leaders today urged Andhra Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur not to consider the ordinance on four per cent reservation to Muslims in education and government jobs in the state, as proposed during a recent Cabinet meeting.
In a letter to Governor that released to the press here, BJP State President Bandaru Dattatraya and party national secretary N Indrasena Reddy pointed out that the apex court refused to grant stay on High Court's order that struck down the law providing reservation to Muslims.
Alleging the government was planning to bring an ordinance for 'vote bank politics', the BJP leaders said the party would launch an agitation, if the Governor failed to stop the ordinance.
