Amar Singh meets Jaya to discuss prez elections

Chennai, July 6 (UNI) Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh today called on AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence here.

An AIADMK release said both the leaders, part of the recently-floated eight party front United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA), discussed the ensuing Presidential and the Vice-Presidential elections.

It may be recalled that the UNPA suggested the name of incumbent President A P J Abdul Kalam as the candidate for the polls. Since, Dr Kalam had refused to seek a second term, the UNPA had decided to abstain from voting.
