8 of marriage party killed in train accident

Purulia, July 6 (UNI) At least eight women of a marriage party, including the bride, travelling in a car were killed when 8101 Tata Amritsar Mail dashed against it at an unmanned level crossing at Suisa under Baghmundi Police Station of Purulia district, 80 kms from the town.

Mr Debashis Pahari, the OC of Baghmundi PS, said there were ten members of the party. While eight of them died on the spot, the condition of remaining two, including the groom, was critical and admitted to a primary health centre in Baghmundi.

He said the the accident took place at 1630 hours.

The vehicle was going to Harukdih village from Baghmundi town.

The train's engine was also slightly damaged and left stranded at the spot under Ranchi division of Muri-Chandil section, he added.
