3 killed in Pali even as flood situation improves

Jodhpur, July 6 (UNI) At least three people have been killed in rain related incidents in Pali district even with rains receding in Marwar region.

Two people were electrocuted in Pali town and another person died in a wall collapse in Rajolakala village.

Though the situation has improved but many rail tracks and roads are still waterlogged.

Pali Collector Karni Singh Rathore said the flood situation has improved with no rains overnight. Relief operations are on in flood-hit areas with people being distributed food packets.

Railways and Roadways sources said buses are not plying on Jodhpur-Jalore and Jodhpur-Merta road today.

No trains are running on Jodhpur-Jaipur-Bikaner-Merta and Jodhpur-Marwar Junctions tracks.

The tracks have been damaged due to flooding. Railways are trying to restore the service on Merta-Bikaner-Merta-Jodhpur-Jaipur tracks.

According to irrigation department, 15 dams and almost all ponds and lakes are overflowing in Marwar region.

Sources said Jaswant Sagar dam in Jodhpur is overflowing and cracks are said to have appeared on its wall. Jaliwada in Jodhpur district, Hemawas, Sei Ker dams in Pali district, Gagrana in Nagaur district, Kameri, Angor, Balodiya, Mohindra, Baniawat, Phulad, Kesuli in sirohi district are overflowing.

At least 40 feet water has come into 61.2 feet deep Jawai dam in Pali district.

According to irrigation department, Nagaur recorded 56mm, Khiwsar 70mm, Gegana 23mm, Merta 70mm, Parvatsar 44mm, Bilada 49mm, Bhopalgarh 70mm, Phalodi 45mm and Osian 30mm rains till 8 am in the morning.
