UP govt examining to challenge HC stay on Amitabh's land case
Lucknow, July 5 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Government is examining the decision of interim stay by the Allahabad High Court on the verdict of the Faizabad Commissioner in connection with the allotment of government land in Barabanki to mega star Amitabh Bachchan.
In a written reply to the assembly, State Revenue Minister Phagu Chauhan said that the government will decide whether to challenge the HC stay on the Faizabad Commissioner's verdict after taking legal opinion.
''The State Law Department is examining the case and will do as per their recommendation'', he said.
Earlier, the Faizabad Commissioner, on June 1,2007, had rejected the order of the then Barabanki District Magistrate alloting a Gram Samaj land to Amitabh Bachchan on April 24,2004.
However, on the petition of the actor, Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court, on June 8,2007, had stayed the order of the Faizabad Commissioner.
Next hearing of the case in the HC is July 24, 2007.
