Tripura minister files defamation suit against former left MP

Agartala, July 5 (UNI) Tripura School Education Minister Keshab Majumder has filed a defamation suit against former leftist MP and PDS leader Ajoy Biswas.

Official sources here today said the minister had also filed the same against a local daily and had claimed a compensation of Rs three crore from Mr Biswas.

The former leftist MP had alleged that the education minister had earned Rs 50 lakh by sealing appointment offers of teachers in different government schools of the state to which the daily had carried some defamatory articles on Mr Majumder.

Mr Majumder had filed an affidavit to West Tripura Civil Judge (Senior Division) yesterday.

Earlier, Public Prosecutor Pankaj Bhattacharjee had filed a separate criminal case on April 26 last against Mr Biswas and editor of the newspaper Subal Dey under sections 500, 501 and 120 (B).
