Police launch probe on London terror suspects

Bangalore, July 5 (UNI) The city's third link to the Glasgow airport attack case points to Kafeel Ahmed, the injured jeep driver, suspected to be the brother of the doctor Sabeel Ahmed, who was arrested by the Liverpool police.

In the latest development, top officials belonging to City Crime Branch entered the home of the doctor in posh Banashankari area here tonight and was conducting investigations.

Reports quoting British police said the jeep driver was Kafeel, suspected to be the brother of Sabeel, who studied medicine in Bangalore. Sabeel was said to have studied in an Engineering College in Davangere city.

The residence of the doctor, whose mother is a retired Professor in a Government Medical College, has a stone inscribed with the names of the two men.

The mother, who had spoken to the mediapersons yesterday, and her husband remained incommunicado today even as a posse of media persons waited outside the house in Banashankari area.

Earlier, City Police Commissioner N Achyuta Rao said the police had launched investigation into the antecedents of Sabeel Ahmed and the other doctor Mohammad Haneef, who was arrested in Brisbane in connection with the case.

Mr Rao told newspersons the anti-terrorism cell had taken up investigation into the antecedents of the doctor duo who studied medicine in a city college.

''Nobody has requested for any information. However, we have taken up the investigation on our own,'' he said.

The members of the two families strongly deny involvement of the two doctors in any terrorist activity and hope they would come out clean soon.
