Left demands Koda's removal; favours mid-term poll in J'khand

Ranchi, July 5 (UNI) Accusing the UPA-backed Madhu Koda government in Jharkhand of indulging in ''corruption'' and adopting anti-people policies, the left parties today demanded mid-term polls in the state.

CPI(M) state secretary Gyan Shanker Mazumdar, after a meeting of all the left parties, said the existence of Koda government was not beneficial for the state, adding Mr Koda should resign from his post.

Mr Mazumdar said delimitation issue was taken up during the meeting asking the MPs to place in Parliament a bill seeking to raise the Assembly seats to 140 from the existing 81.

The party delegation from Jharkhand with CPI general secretary A B Bardhan, CPM general secretary Prakash Karat, Forward Bloc leader Debabrata Biswas and RSP leader Abani Roy would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over delimitation issue with the demand to bring an amendment bill in Parliament during the monsoon session in this regard.

Mr Mazumdar said next meeting of the left parties would be held on July 9 to discuss Panchayat election.

The meeting was attended by left party leaders including CPI state secretary Bhuvneshwar Mehta and CPM state secretary Jyan Shanker Mazumdar.
