Kerala wants to enter banking sector: Finance Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, July 5 (UNI) Kerala government is seriously considering entry into the banking sector on the lines of Karnataka and other states, Finance Minister T M Thomas Issac informed the Assembly today.

The government had in principle accepted that it wanted a place in the banking sector, he said, replying to questions from Ms K S Saleekha and others.

Mr Issac also said the government was seriously considering to simplyfy the procedures for gettting the payment of prize money to the subscribers deposited in the ''Chitty'' run by the KSFE.

Currently, the subscribers were facing serious problems in getting the prize money as they had to produce two government servants as sureties.

It is also planning to introduce a contributory pension scheme to the KSFE employees, he added.
