Govt to consider increasing retirement age of school principals
New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today announced that her government would consider increasing the superannuation age of school principals and a proposal to this effect would soon be placed before the Cabinet.
''The government had earlier increased the retirement age for teachers from 60 to 62 and now we will consider increasing the superannuation age of school principals,'' she said at a function organized to felicitate those principals whose schools have faired well in tenth and twelfth CBSE examinations.
She said her Governemnt is committed to providing best possible amenities to Government schools in Delhi.
The Chief Minister also announced that the Government would provide internet facility at the residence of school principals ''The spetp is being taken to keep them abreast with the latest developments in the field of education and learning which would help them in bringing desired improvements in the functioning of their schools,'' she added.
Education Minister Arvinder Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister P K Tripathi, Secretary Education Reena Ray, Director Education Vijay Kumar and 295 school principals attended the function.
Heaping praise on students who have fared well in the CBSE examination, Ms Dikshit said the credit for the success goes to teachers, principals and parents.
''The schools of Delhi have earned name and fame only because of good results of the students and have been included in the list of top most schools of the country,'' she added.
She said the Government is committed to providing students best possible training in sports and other extra curricular activities.
