Anganwadi employees to go on strike on July 10

Chennai, July 5 (UNI) All the 96,000 employees working in the 48,000 anganwadi centres here, will go on one-day strike on July 10 as part of their nation wide strike, pressing their long pending demands.

CITU State General Secretary A Soundirarajan and Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Employees Association General Secretary K Tamilarasi told newspersons today that the employees were serving the anganwadis for the last 30 years without any basic social and job securities.

Their demands included they should be declared government servants, retirement benefits to anganvadi employees and priority to eligible graduate anganwadi workers in government jobs.
