VHP to intesify stir against Setu Samudram project
Jalandhar, Jul 3 (UNI) To further intensify agitation against the Setu Samundram project, Punjab Vishawa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to organise a two-day Dharam Sansad (religious congregation) in Delhi from July 25.
While talking to media persons here today, VHP leader Khemchand Sharma said,''The UPA government is working under the US pressure to destroy the 'Ram Setu', which will be opposed tooth and nail.'' He said hundreds of industries were shut down to save 450 years old Taj Mahal, whereas governmnent had decided to destroy 'Ram Setu', a monument of both, historical and religious importance to Hindus.
Mr Sharma said 'Ram Setu' pictures taken by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), USA from space showed the remains of what appeared to be an age-old man-made bridge between Rameshwaram and Sri Lanka.
He also expressed fears that if the existing 'Ram Setu' would be destroyed, then the dangers of tsunami would increase manifold in the region.
He said on July 25 and 26 at Ramlila Ground in Delhi, religious heads would assemble and chalk out further strategy to save the 'Ram Setu.' UNI DP JN MMS1819
