SP lamabsts BSP govt for taking undue credit of budgetary proposals

Lucknow, July 3(UNI) The Samajwadi Party today lambasted the Uttar Pradesh government for presenting a lacklustre budgetary proposals for 2007-08 financial year, charging it with taking the credit of the achievements of the previous government.

Initiating the budget debate in the state assembly SP member Ambika Choudhury, on behalf of leader of the opposition Mulayam Singh Yadav, said that most of the new projects shown in the budget were the old ones with changes in the name. ''The present BSP government is taking undue credit of the achievements of the SP government,'' he said.

Appreciating the achievements of the previous Samajwadi Party government, he said all the projects including those in the power sector had been initiated by the past government but the present government was taking credit of it.

''Power projects of Anpara C, Roza and Dadri were being mooted by our government but now they are taking credit for it'', he alleged.

Raking up the issue of harrassment of a particular community by the present government, Mr Choudhury said it was unfortunate that even after claiming that the government was working towards 'Sarv Samaj', the backwards are being targetted.

Narrating in detail about the growth rate of the state, the SP member said the growth rate was just 0.1 per cent when Ms Mayawati presented her budget in 2002-03 which has now gone up to 5.1 per cent which is only due to the major developmental projects taken up by the Mulayam Singh government.

BJP legislature party leader Om Prakash Singh also participated in the debate criticising the budgetary proposals as 'inadequate' for the welfare of the state.
