Smoke in compartment,Metro services suspended for sometime
Kolkata, Jul 3 (UNI) Metro services in the city remained suspended for some time today as smoke billowed out of a train compartment following a technical snag, triggering panic among the passengers.
According to metro railway sources, the incident took place at Rabindra Sadan station when a Dum Dum-bound train trundled to a halt at the station and smoke started coming out from the underbelly of a compartment.
The passengers, who were waiting on the platform, ran for safety out of fear, while the metro authorities called fire brigade and detained the train to evacuate all the commuters.
As no fire was detected and the smoke continued to come out, power supply to the third line was stopped from the control room suspending train services, the sources said.
The metro services, however, restored after about an hour following necessary repair of the fault in the train.
