S K Vasishta takes over as RailTel MD
New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) Mr S K Vasishta, an officer of Indian Railways Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) of the 1972 batch, today took over as Managing Director of RailTel Corporation of India Ltd.
Mr Vasishta succeeds Mr K K Bajpeyee, who superannuated after putting in more than 36 years of service.
He started his career in Indian Railways in January 1974 and has put in more than 33 years of service. He headed various signaling and telecommunication works on important Zonal Railways, including Eastern Railway, Northern Railway and North Western Railway.
RailTel is a public sector undertaking and technical arm of Indian Railways. An ISO-9001:2000 company, it posted a 87 per cent jump in its total income at Rs 113.29 crore in the fiscal 2006-07 as compared to Rs 60.44 crore a year earlier.
The Public Sector Unit has recorded a net profit of Rs 33.28 crore in FY07.
