Rain stops in Nashik

Nashik, July 3 (UNI) The rains took a short break of 4-5 hours in the city and some parts of the district today after raining continuously for the past two days.

Meanwhile, three persons were swept away in the floodwaters of Devnadi at Vadgaon in Sinnar taluka late last night. In other rain related incidents, contact of Aswali station with Ghoti in Igatpuri taluka has been cut off.

In Chandwad taluka, there is threat of drought as taluka received half of the average rainfall in a month.

In Niphad taluka, Banganga, Kadwa, Winda rivers are in spate. In Sinnar taluka, there are floods in Devnadi and Mhadlungi rivers.

In Nashik taluka, the flood gates of Gangapur dam were not opened even though the Godavari river is in spate. However, it has not crossed the danger mark till now.

Rain in the catchment areas of Trimbakeshwar, Peth, Surgana and Igatpuri were still continuing, disrupting normal life. Prices of all vegetables are on the rise.

Meanwhile, district administration has shifted 40 shops from Goda Ghat area to safer places and a warning has been given to Saikheda and Chandori villages.

Till 1200 hrs today, 66,700 cusecs of water was released from Nandur-Madhyameshwar dam. 32,430 cusecs of water was released from Darna dam, which has been filled upto 79.30 per cent.

Gangapur dam has filled up 47.46 per cent and there is no release of water from the dam till now.
