R S Sharma is ONGC CMD; official announcement awaited

New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) The appointment of Chairman and Managing Director of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) R S Sharma which has been given the green signal by the Prime Minister's Office is awaiting a formal announcement from the Corporation.

Mr Sharma who has been the acting CMD since MAy 25 last year will head the country's largest oil producer till 2011.

The orders pertaining to his appointment has been cleared by the Petroleum Ministry, official sources said.

The Public Enterprise Selection Board headed by Mr N K Sinha had earlier selected Mr Sharma after conducting interviews of 28 candidates on June 3 and June 4.

Mr Sharma the senior most member in the Corporation was Director (Finance) before his appointment as its acting head.
