Phagwara, July 3 (UNI) A local carpenter, Surjit Singh, has won the distinction of entering the 'Limca Books Of Records' by carving a unique 23 ft and four inches long wooden chain sans a single joint.

Showing his prized creation, Surjit, a resident of Ramgarh village, told UNI that it took him over two years to complete the chain.

Surjit has not only carved out the longest chain from a single log, he has also turned it into a reference material for general knowledge by embellishing it with the names of 170 countries, all Presidents of India, Vice-Presidents, Prime Ministers, all Sikh Gurus and famous cricketers, football and hockey players.

Surjit was helped by his daughter Navjot, a student of BA, in registering his name in Limca Books of Records. Now they were trying to get his name entered in the ''Guinness Books of Records''.

He said now he was inspired to make more such attempts in carpentry.
