PMC convenes office bearers to decide on Prez poll

Puducherry, July 3 (UNI) The Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) has convened its office bearers meeting here tomorrow to decide the party's stance in the presidential elections.

Party spokesman K Lakshminarayanan told UNI that PMC President and former Home Minister P Kannan would preside over the meeting in which legislators, councillors and party office, bearers besides special invitees, would participate. The meeting would assess the prevailing political situation here and also discuss the presidential election.

Mr Lakshminarayanan said AICC Secretary Sudhakar Reddy had spoken to him and sought the party's support to UPA-Left nominee Pratibha Patil and was told to contact party President P Kannan. It is likely that Mr Kannan will be asked to take a decision on the party's support in the presidential election. The PMC has three members in the 30-member territorial assembly.
