Pepper slips, Rubber continues southward trend

New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) Following are the details of the commodities market: At NCDEX, 547 members (2,895) users participated in trading on July 3, 2007 up to 1700 hrs and volumes were Rs 2,343 crore (one-way). There were more than 71,184 trades put through by them.

Active trades were high in among others guarseeds, soya oil, pepper, chana, jeera and gold.

After awaiting cues from Indonesia and Brazil, the NMCE Pepper near July futures lost 0.70 per cent to a loss of Rs 104 in the various series traded today. July contract LTP is at Rs 14,791 today down from Rs 14,895 yesterday.

Pepper prices had showed gains yesterday in line with firm spot markets. Also Indian pepper was highly competitive in the world market.

On the NMCE, out of 192 series of 71 commodities, futures contracts on 15 series got traded. The total volume is 10,006 lots with a turnover of Rs 103.42 crores.

On the NMCE Rubber near July futures, the southward trend continued with a 0.66 per cent loss to register at a LTP of Rs 7,350 down Rs 49 from a previous closing of Rs 7,399 yesterday.

Rubber futures closed in the red today affecting spot market prices (Rs 7,403). According to sources, markets fell on reports of bearish trend in the global markets. Also tyre companies are still abstaining from the physical market of rubber. Other factors include high carryover stocks, coupled with weak monsoon in Kerala leading to the southward trend in rubber.

Brent crude for near July futures opened at MCX at Rs 2,898 per barrel and is last trading at Rs 2,893. Natural Gas opened at Rs 273.50 per mmBtu and the last trading price is at Rs 275.30 mmBtu up 0.51 per cent.

MCXCOMDEX is down Rs 2.96 and trading at Rs 2,146.16 while MCXMETAL is down Rs 13.69 to have an LTP of Rs 2,481.31.

MCXENERGY is down Rs 1.97 to register an LTP of Rs 2,215.57 while MCXAGRI is up Rs 12.41 to trade at Rs 1762.78.
