Nathpa Project exceeds production target by 42 mln units

Shimla, July 3 (UNI) Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam claimed that its Nathpa Project had exceeded its production target by 42 million units during first quarter of 2007.

''The 1,500MW-Nathpa Jakhri Power Station in Himachal Pradesh has generated 2,267 million units of electricity, exceeding the target by 42 million units which was set by the Power Ministry,'' said NJPS Deputy General Manager V K Verma in a statement.

The power station which commissioned in Oct 2003, has so far produced about 18,525 million units of electricity.

The power station caters the needs of Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Panjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.

During the year 2006-07, the station had generated a record-5,941 million units of electricity.
