Monsoon less active in MP

Bhopal, July 3 (UNI) With cyclonic circulation in the vicinity of Madhya Pradesh weakening, monsoon was comparatively less active for the second consecutive day even as some parts received light rainfall.

Two people died in rain-related incidents in Badwani district taking the death toll due to such incidents in Madhya Pradesh to six. Earlier, three people had died in Betul and one in Khandwa.

Meteorological department director D P Dubey said widespread rainfall was not expected in the next three-four days, as a low pressure area in the vicinity of the state moved towards Rajasthan.

However, moisture coming from Arabain sea could bring rainfall to some parts.

The state capital witnessed passing clouds and drizzle followed by brilliant sunshine in afternoon.

A UNI report from Jhabua said, heavy rains continued in Alirajpur and Katiwada. Water level in Naramada reached 121 metre and was constantly rising forcing the district administration to remove Kakrana and Tilawada relief camps.

Several rivers, including Narmada, in Jhabua district were in spate, while Batai Sagar reservoir was over-filled.

According to meteorological department, Alirajpur recorded maximum 10 cm rainfall. Ratalam received 5 cm rainfall, followed by Hoshangabad (2 cm) and Guna (1).

Heavy rains is likely at isolated places in Indore and Ujjain divisions in the next 24 hours.
