UP: Mayawati takes oath as legislative member

Lucknow, July 3: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati and her cabinet colleague Swami Prasad Maurya today took oath as members of the state legislative council.

The two were recently elected unopposed to the upper house.

The Chief Minister reached the house 15 minutes before the proceedings began at 1100 hrs. She was introduced to the members of the house by Mr Maurya.

Chairman of the Vidhan Parishad Ch Sukhram Singh administered the oath to the two newly-elected members.

Both have been elected to the Vidhan Parishad, for the first time
