Janajudha group bandh affects life

Bankura, Jul 03 (UNI) Life was partially affected in Naxal-dominated areas of Bankura and Bandwan districts following a bandh by the Janajudha group today.

Janajudh group, a faction of Naxals in Purulia, Bankura and Midnapur districts, had called the bandh yesterday. Posters and leaflets for the bandh were found in Khatra here and in Lalgarh of West Midnapur district as well.

Police of both Purulia and Bankura districts were on alert.

The bandh, which mostly affected Barikul of Bankura and Bandwan of Purulia districts, passed off peacefully. Most of the private buses did not ply.

The Naxals are also demanding return of land, taken away for industrial purposes, in Singur and Nandigram.

Meanwhile, Maoists also called another bandh in Bankura, Purulia and Midnapur districts on July 5 protesting against the land acquisition in Singur and Nandigram.
