Husband of newly-wed commits suicide

Kanpur, July 3 (UNI) A newly-married man allegedly committed suicide here last evening after his in-laws objected to his drinking, police today said.

Kiran of Naubasta area was married to Surendra Singh of Chamanganj area on Saturday.

The following day, Kiran's father Chedi Singh had brought her back for the customary 'peir phera' ceremony at his house.

However, when Surendra came there for the function in an inebriated state, he was allegedly shoved out of the house by his in-laws, who also refused to send Kiran with him.

This allegedly led to Surendra ending his life by hanging from the ceiling of his house last evening.

The body had been sent for autopsy and investigations were underway, police said.
