Heavy rainfall disrupts life in city

Kolkata, July 3 (UNI) Heavy rainfall in the city today disrupted regular activities, with commuters struggling to reach their destination and people deserting their almost-flooded homes in parts of the city.

With maximum relative humidity remaining at 98 per cent and the minimum showing no signs of lowering below 90 per cent, Met office's forecast of fresh spells of rainfall later today has threatened to throw life out of gear for yet another day.

A total of 172.6 mm of rainfall was recorded today.

Heavy floods and slow drainage has caused tremendous problem to office and school goers, who tried desperately to reach their destination by hook or crook.

Met officials said that the maximum temperature recorded was at 29.1 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal, and the minimum was pegged at 25.0 degrees Celsius.
