Idukki, July 3 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the government has reclaimed 957 acres of land, which was in illegal possession of Tata Tea at Munnar in the district.

Mr Achuthanandan, who was in Munnar to oversee the eviction drive of the Special Task Force Team headed by K Suresh Kumar, said survey work to measure 363 acres of land adjacent to the reclaimed land was on and requisite action would be taken after the work was over.

Speaking to reporters here, he said the eviction drive was part of the government's plan to retrieve illegal possession of government land from Tata Tea.

The drive, which was lying in limbo for the last two weeks, got an impetus with the visit of the Chief Minister.

However, a Tata Tea official informed here that the 'reclaimed land' was part of the forest area and did not belong to the company.

Later, Mr Achuthanandan visited three relief camps in Kunjithanni, Keerithodu and Chellachuvadu where around 200 people affected by landslides were lodged.
