Flood situation still grim in Kolhapur's Shirol tehsil

Kolhapur, Jul 3 (UNI) Flood situation in Shirol tehsil continued to be grim today even though rains had abated in Kolhapur district.y.

District Collector office sources said flood situation in three villages -- Rajapur, Rajapurwadi, Khidrapur -- in Shirol tehsil of the district remained unchanged, with villages being marooned since the past four days.

The road connectivity about ten villages in the tehsil is still paralaysed. However, road traffic is fast returning to normalcy in other parts of the district, sources said.

Water level of Panchaganga river receded slightly today as the river is flowing below danger mark at the height of 42.2 feet at Rajaram 'bandhara' near Kasaba Bavada suburb, sources said andding that highest rainfall of 52 mm was recorded in Radhanagari tehsil during last 24 hours that ended at 0800 hrs today.

Meanwhile, water level of Krishna river in the neibhouring Sangli district also started receding and is flowing at the height of 40 feet from yesterday's 42.5 feet, Sangli collectorate sources said.
