Five arrested for kidnapping of Gujarati businessman for ransom
New Delhi, July 4 (UNI) The Delhi Police today arrested five persons in connection with the 'kidnapping-for-ransom' of a Gujarati businessman.
32-year-old Rajubhai Himat Ram Malvi, a businessman who manufactured gold jewellery at his factory in Ahmedabad, was kidnapped by the accused after they called him to Delhi posing as businessmen from Dubai interested in buying equipments on a large scale for West Asian countries.
The kidnappers took him to an unknown destination in Delhi and then demanded a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore from his family members. The family were asked to come to Delhi for paying the ransom amount.
The kidnappers also send threatening CDs to terrorise the family.
After a detailed investigation and round-the-clock surveiilance, the five - Sandeep Parmar, Mukul Yadav, Sandeep Singh, Ashish Uppal and Saurav Sharma - were arrested by the police.
Interrogation of the accused revealed that Sandeep Parmar is a relative of the victim who had previous enmity with him.
consequently, he passed on detailed information about the victim to the kidnappers who then hatched a conspiracy to kidnap Raju Bhai.
The kidnappers posed themselves as members of Pathan gang from Dubai.
