Fine of Rs 35,000 imposed on Power department

Amroha, July 3 (UNI) The electricity department has been scapped with a fine of Rs 35,000 for wrongfully issuing Recovery Certificate (RC) against a consumer whose power connection was snapped long ago and sending him behind bars for a week.

According to the Consumer Forum sources here, Intkhab Ahmad of Mandi Chobe village was constantly getting power bills in 2002, although he had duly settled them.

His power supply was disconnected, but he kept on receiving the bills.

The RC was issued and he was arrested. Later, Ahmad moved the district consumer forum.

Yesterday, the case was settled by the forum and power department was directed to pay Rs 35,000 as compensation to the victim.
