DTC buses running in Delhi schools to ply on roads

New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) Faced with the increasing menace of blueline buses on the city roads, the Delhi Government has planned to ply on roads the DTC buses which are operating as schools buses in various public schools in the city.

This was stated by Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yousuf after a meeting with various transport unions in the wake of Sunday's accident wherein an overspeeding blueline bus rammed into seven cars, killing an 11-year-old boy and injuring seven others.

Mr Yousuf said the DTC buses in operation in various public schools in the capital would be put on roads to serve as an ''safe and alternative'' mode of transport for the public.

The schools would be asked to make their own arrangements for transporting the children from their homes to schools and vice versa.

At present about 1100 buses of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) are operating in various Delhi schools.
