Don't make JIPMER autonomous : employees
Puducherry, July 3 (UNI) The JIPMER anti-conversion Joint Action Committee of JIPMER employees today took out a procession and submitted a memorandum to the Parliamentary Standing Committee, opposing the move to convert it into an autonomous institution and urging it to maintain status-quo.
Talking to newspersons here, Joint Action Committee President Arokiyam Kalaimathy said there would be no free treatment at JIPMER and also the Group 'C' and 'D' posts would not be given to locals.
He demanded to maintain the status-quo.
The action committee would continue to oppose any move of the Centre to convert JIPMER into an autonomous institution he added.
Meanwhile, the JIPMER anti-conversion Peoples' Action Committee, comprising of different political parties also took out a separate procession and submitted a memorandum to the standing committee registering its protest against the decision of the Centre to convert the institution into an autonomous one.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee under Digvijay Singh visited Puducherry yesterday to hear the views of different sections on the conversion of JIPMER into an autonomous institution.
