Cognizant to invest $ 200 mn in Techno-complexes
Kolkata, Jul 3: Cognizant, US based IT and outsourcing company, will invest US $ 46 million (Rs 188 crore) to set up a Techno-complex in Bantala SEZ, as a part of its mega expansion plan with an investment of US $ 200 million in India by end of 2008.
They will also hire 7700 new recruits out of which 1000 will be for the new facility.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, Cognizant President&Managing Director said, 'The company would set up four Techno-complexes in Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Kolkata, with an investment of US$ 200 million.'' The four complexes, with a total area of 3 million square feet, would offer employment opportunity to additional 30,000 people.
Out of the total investment, US$ 46 million would be for Kolkata complex, to be built in an area of 5 lakh square feet in the first phase, would offer employment opportunity to 4,000 people.
''This will be our second fully owned Techno complex in Kolkata. However, we will continue with our leased premises,'' he said adding that the land acquisition for this project has already been done.
