Panaji, JulY 3 (UNI) Girish Chodankar today resigned from the post of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee President.

He told mediapersons that he had sent his resignation letter to National Youth Congress President Ashok Tanwar, urging to relieve him from the post of the President of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress that Chodankar had been holding for the last seven-and-half years.

Mr Chodankar said he has been with the party organisation for the last 19 years but he had failed in his capacity as the President of Youth Congress in issuing tickets to youth candidates, both in north and south Goa district for the recently held State Assembly election. ''Accepting this as my defeat, I am tendering my resignation. But, I will continue to work for the party,'' he said.

''I had earlier resigned twice - once in 2002 and other in 2004.

But my resignation was not accepted and I was asked to continue.

Seven and half years has been a long term. This time I have decided not to continue further and hence urged the high command to nominate another person for the President's post,'' he added.
