Machilipatnam, July 3 (UNI) Asom High Court Chief Justice J Chalameswar said about 50,000 cases were pending in Asom High Court.

Talking to UNI at Movva in Krishna District yesterday, he said pending cases in Asom High Court were very less compared to Andhra Pradesh High Court.

The pending cases, mostly relate to ULFA terrorist activities, he added.

Stating that the crime ratio in Asom was also very low, he said, adding this might be due to the small size of the state with less population.

Mr Chalameswar said a Lok Adalat was set up in the state for speedy disposal of the cases.

The Chief Justice, who visited his native village Movva, was felicitated by several organisations.
